ANDALUSIAN ORCHESTRA CENTER
We see the Andalusian Culture Center as an authentic cultural asset of the modern city of Ashdod. The architectural idea was to create a closed structure, a treasure chest, embedded in the between the city and the sea. The challenge of designing cultural structures, and the Andalusian Center in particular, is in the packaging of the precious object containing the ‘secret’ of the function. The spatial structure of the center stretches from the cultural plaza to the Mediterranean horizon, setting up the conditions for a physical and visual voyage while developing harmony of movement in the Center. The activation of the senses through the body, time, light and space creates the situations for the building to stand as a gesture to visitors and culture consumers.
